Project Summary

The BLUECIRCLE (Boosting Circular Economy Solutions for Marine Litter Collection and Recycling in the Adriatic-Ionian Regions) project aims to tackle the issue of beached waste in an innovative way, turning a critical environmental challenge into an opportunity to promote a circular economy. Essentially, the initiative seeks to demonstrate the technical feasibility of a system that, thanks to a mobile plant, enables the collection and treatment of beached waste directly along the coasts of the Adriatic-Ionian area. This plant will be capable of separating the different materials present in the waste, allowing them to be recycled and reintegrated into new value chains instead of simply being sent to landfills. Another fundamental aspect of the project is the promotion of transnational collaboration. The various regions involved will share knowledge and experiences, working together to define common methodologies and effective strategies for managing marine waste. In this way, the goal is not only to improve the quality of the waters and coastlines, but also to create a sustainable model that can be adopted on a larger scale. In short, BLUECIRCLE’s objective is to demonstrate how the combination of technological innovation, circular management of materials, and international cooperation can provide an effective and sustainable solution to reduce beached waste while fostering the development of eco-friendly practices throughout the region.
