NEWS: Successful BLUECIRCLE Launch Event on Environmental Protection and Beached Waste Management

Bari, February 4, 2025 – The BLUECIRCLE launch event dedicated to the management of beached waste and environmental protection, organized by the Puglia Region in collaboration with sector institutions and associations, was met with great participation.
The day began with institutional greetings from Eng. Paolo Francesco Garofoli, Director of the Department of Environment, Landscape, and Urban Quality of the Puglia Region, Avv. Serena Triggiani, Regional Minister for the Environment, and Admiral Inspector Vincenzo Leone, Maritime Director of Puglia and Basilicata Jonica.
During the conference, experts from various organizations, including ARPA Veneto, ARPA Puglia, and Confindustria Cisambiente, shared insights and analyses on strategies for managing beached waste. The intervention by Giuseppe Colonna, Mayor of Mola di Bari, emphasized the importance of local administrations’ involvement in these initiatives.
One of the key moments of the day was the in-depth discussion on the BlueCircle project, presented by Valentina de Pinto from the Puglia Region and Prof. Michele Notarnicola from the Polytechnic University of Bari. The project, co-funded by IPA ADRION Programme, aims to promote innovative solutions to reduce the environmental impact of coastal waste and strengthen collaboration between institutions, businesses, and citizens.
The event concluded with a light lunch, providing participants with an opportunity to discuss future collaborations and shared strategies for environmental protection.
Given the success of the day, a stronger commitment to preserving the Puglia coastline and promoting sustainable waste management practices is expected.
